Vieni a Galla

about.

Vieni a Galla is a collaborative service, an online and offline platform that organises events in underused public spaces in the Gallaratese neighbourhood, in the north area of Milan, through the active collaboration and participation of the inhabitants of the area.

"Vieni a Galla - Come up to the social stage" focuses on organizing events through the active collaboration of users. These events aim at social aggregation and the growth of creative communities that encourage local residents to co-create small-scale events in their neighborhood. Through the online platform, neighborhood residents and performers can connect, organize events and/or participate in events, and collaborate in the re-evaluation of the neighborhood.

method.

For the development of this project, we followed a user-centred approach based on the direct involvement of users from the earliest design stages. Together with desk research to better understand the context, we also conducted co-design sessions to analyse user needs. Then, we organised all the information gathered using specific service design tools such as an offering map, system map, user journey and flow diagrams to better delineate all the characteristics of the service.

result.

The main objective of this project was to design new services for the citizens of the ‘Gallaratese’ neighbourhood, north area of Milan, in order to promote the involvement of the inhabitants and the revitalisation of existing spaces.

The use of service design methodology and tools allowed us not only to highlight opportunities for improvement but, above all, to effectively guide the definition of the service itself, creating emotional connections with users, optimising processes, and ensuring a lasting impact. In the development of such a service, created on the user, for the user, and with the user, the strategic use of service design tools was fundamental in transforming the initial concept into a memorable and successful experience.
